Paul Kent (PK) Director Of Coaching. Paul was one of the world’s best Breaststroke swimmers in the 90’s and voted NZ Breaststroke swimmer of the 20th century. At his peak he had the fastest time in history and was ranked world #1 for 3 years. Paul held the Commonwealth, Australian All Comers and 6 NZ open records. His New Zealand records stood from 1992-2008. He was a regular member of the NZ Team, swimming at all the major international meets including 1994 Commonwealth Games (4th), 1996 Olympic Games (12th) and the World SC Championships (Gold and Silver).
Paul started coaching in 1998 and has produced numerous Auckland, Regional and National Record holders and Champions. Paul was the technical consultant to the 2006 Commonwealth Games and continues to work closely with the International Training Centre and NZ Performance and Pathways GM, Jan Cameron.
Paul was the founder and Co-coordinator of the MAGS Swimming Academy (1999-2001). He then moved to Kings Scholl (2002-2007) where he set up and founded the very successful Metro Swimming Club (which changed to United Swimming Club and Kings swimming Club in 2008 and 2009 respectfully).

Nick Hoskins-Smith Assistant Coach. Nick is a former National Level swimmer and former student of mine. Nick is in his last year of school at Kings Collage and brings youth and enthusiasm to the team. Nick will work closely with the silver squad.
Kurt Dell Assistant Coach. Kurt is also a former National Junior Champion for the breaststroke events and a former student of mine. Kurt also went to Kings Collage and has spent the last 2 years overseas as gap years, Kurt returns at the end of this week buffed and fit (from what he tells me) and will be studying Law next year at Auckland University. Kurt will be groomed to assist me with the gold squad which will be selected after ASA Championships in December 2009.

C.H.E.K Exercise Coach (2006), C.H.E.K Scientific Back Training (2006), C.H.E.K Programme Design (2006), C.H.E.K Scientific Core Conditioning (2006), C.H.E.K Golf Biomechanics Coach (2005), C.H.E.K, HLC Level 1 (2004), Hellerwork International, LLC Certified (1999), AUT Certification in Aerobic Fundamentals (1996), AUT Certification in Personal Training (1994), AUT Certification in Fitness Foundations (1994), AUT Certification in Fitness Assessment & Counselling (1994), AUT Certification in Exercise Prescription (1994). Rod is a specialist in Nutritional analysis, Postural analysis, Corrective stretching, Corrective exercise, Resistance training (weight training), Cardio or aerobic exercise, Personal goal setting and Advanced physical therapy.
Using the skills developed from 15 years experience gained in the health & wellness industry as a Personal lifestyle coach and Structural Bodywork practitioner. Rod works one on one with clients or groups, coaching them in connecting Mind, Body and Spirit.Rod assess our athletes energy levels, resting heart rate, blood pressure, body measurements, a full body Biomechanical assessment, postural analysis, breathing techniques and nutrition. Once this information is gathered Rod will design an ongoing set of programming to assist you in achieving your goals.
