About

The Roskill Swimming Club (“RSC”) was established in 1955 by the late Artie Shaw who served as the Vice President of FINA (Swimming’s World governing body) and is the grandfather of 2x NZ Olympian and Roskill Swimmer Trent Bray.

Outstanding results were created in the 1970’s-1990’s through coaches such as former NZ Olympic Coach, the late Ross Anderson [Senior] and Hilton Brown, with the success continuing under NZ assistant coach Dean Greenwood and former Australian Coach John Marshall until 2000.

RSC has had a proud history, having produced numerous Olympians including Anthony Moss, Paul Kingsman, Mark Weldon, Trent Bray, Paul Kent, Richard Lockhart, Silva Hume, Nick Tongue, Mark Kallagaur, Brett Austin, Mike Davidson and Ross Anderson (Junior), as well as countless Commonwealth Games Representatives.  It is a history that our members are very proud of and serve as benchmarks for the next generation of swimmers to aspire to at Roskill Magic.

However, of recent years a number of factors have contributed to the drop in the Club’s performance.  This has been rectified by a complete overhaul of the Club and enlisting the help of new Director of Coaching, Paul Kent who is also a former Roskill swimmer.
